'Bionic' eyes on the way

A new contact lens with electronic components is being pimped as a 'bionic eye' which has the ability to overlay a display on the wearers filed of view.

The lens has the potential to assist people with visual disabilities and could even display readouts such as driving directions or web surfing.

Fingers crossed for a gaming interface.

So long as blindness doesn't result after overuse, then it seems like all the sci-fi stuff is coming true. I guess eventually the military will get a hold of it and outfit their troops with it in order to improve accuracy and objectives, and basically everything else that's in video games today.

This looks pretty cool! I just hope it doesn't any negative side effects, like "eye-cancer" or something.
