DRM officially dead

It's official. Sony BMG is the last of the giant music labels to finally agree to drop DRM. This is truly a significant win for the consumer, and just goes to show how persuasive we can be when push comes to shove.

Sony will be selling DRM-free music sometime in the first quarter of 2008.

That's good nes for music buyers. Now if they could extened this action to not protecting DVDs so I can make backups of the ones I own without breaking the law I would be much happier.
