All Pakistan ISPs block Youtube
Mikey 7 commentsYoutube regulars in Pakistan got a shock when access to the popular video sharing site was blocked. The countries Telco authority has ordered the site be blocked until further notice because of a handful of videos uploaded were deemed offensive to Islam. Pakistan joins a short list of countries that have blocked web sites, which includes Turkey and Thailand.
"They asked us to ban it immediately... and the order says the ban will continue until further notice. Users are quite upset. They're screaming at ISPs which can't do anything."
It seems rather extreme to block the entire site instead of just having the offending videos deleted.

Monday 25th February 2008 | 10:16 AMAs screwed up as the USA is, I am still glad I live here and not some other counties. Of course here I am more likely to get sued than arrested for some my ideas and the things I say.
Especially now that the FBI is watching me. Well ok not just me but all of us, well maybe just some of us. Ok it is just me and I made it up. Sorry the silliness is invading today.

Monday 25th February 2008 | 07:10 PMTalk about your over-kill solutions. What about the rest of the world who can still view the offensive videos?

Monday 25th February 2008 | 09:20 PMIts strange and might get flames too. A site like youtube is banned from Pakistan but militant sites which recruit thousands of young guys from the same country are operational. I think these people should make terrorism a part of their culture too and start officially supporting it. How lame can you get?

Wednesday 27th February 2008 | 09:54 AMAny sane person would ask for the videos to be deleted but when there's religious idiots involved they insist on extreme option. People have the right to see videos no matter how offensive they may be to others.
dumbass move
