Stage6 comes to an end

It's hard to imagine anyone saw this coming, but the popular video sharing site Stage6 is closing it's doors permanently on this coming February 28 2008.

Stage6 allowed users to upload and share their own videos in high definition at any aspect ratio, as opposed to the typical Youtube 4x3 grainy crap-o-vision. It is this very reason why I (and many film makers) always preferred Stage6, and will consequently miss it while we look for another video service that places emphasis of quality over quantity.

Tom from Stage6 has posted a full explanation behind the decision on the official web site.

Very interesting. The funny thing is the only thing I have seen using Stage 6 is regular Hollywood films. My first experience with it was to watch an up coming Stargate SG1 movie that some one uploaded using it. Could it be trying to police the massive amount of pirated material caused this or pressure from the MPAA behind closed doors?
