Lion attacks woman: In HiDef!

Luckily she wasn't seriously hurt, but she sure got the wind knocked out of her. While demonstrating what looks like a Street Fighter shoryuken, Gitanjali Kolanad is knocked to the ground by a lion during a photo shoot. Oh and this happens twice!

The lion looks as if it's just playing, naturally not knowing it's own strength.

Cute lion, didn't like the fact they hit him in the face. He just wanted to play. :(

What's that "Street Fighter shoryuken" thingy anyway? Some kind of martial arts? In that case it looks pretty pointless - and a martial arts artist should notice big-ass lion attacking him/her sideways. ^^

What a take down!! Someone should sign that lion up. I reckon line backer or defensive end would be perfect.

A "street fighter shoryuken" is a series of complex movements. I believe it was forward, down, down/forward and then any of the three punch buttons :0)

2 things.

1. Gorgeous animal. I love the big cats. We have a big cat reserve not too far from here. When I was there I had the chance lock eyes with a large female lion. It was one the most truly awesome experiences. There was no fear and I never felt as though she was looking at me as food. It is hard to put into words but it was just very intense and very cool.

2. That lion actually could have taken out the whole room with out working up a sweat. That was big playful kitty and the handlers should no better than to wave movement like that in front of a playful kitty. I would also like to kick the guy for kicking the cat. Don't kick the kitty.

...in response to this comment by Jared. Thanks Jared! I think it was forward forward down but then it's been over 10 years since I played SFII so I could be mistaken.

...in response to this comment by Jim - Just A Guy. Agreed. I can just imagine when the lion got the kick in the face he was thinking to himself "OK buddy, you only get one of those, and you just used it up."

There seriously wans't much stopping it from going berzerker if it wanted.

Yeah I watched it thinking two things. Before I start, I admit that yes, it would have been very scary and I wouldn't like to get pushed over by a huge cat - anyway:

1 - The lion was just playing and barely touched her. Then she carried on like she nearly lost her life. She just got lightly winded. I mean seriously, sorry to be callous, but I used to get winded about once a week, every time we played a game of (Australian Rules) football. Sure, it sucks and yes, you do feel completely unable to breath but it passes. It's not life threatening.

2 - She was supposed to be demonstrating the power, agility and pose her martial art teaches the body. I think we can all agree she did not come off as a good advertisement for the level of control over one's body you can obtain with her particular brand of martial art.
