African-American judge apologies for kicking white lawyers out of court

Despite his best intentions, a African-American Judge has apologised for booting out the white lawyers from his court room so he could personally lecture the African-American defendants. Said Judge Arrington:

"I came out and saw the defendants, and it was about 99.9 percent Afro-Americans, and at some point in time, I excused some lawyers - most of them white - and said to the young people in here, 'What in the world are you doing with your lives?' I didn't want them to think I was talking down to them; trying to embarrass them or insult them; be derogatory toward them, and I was just saying, 'Please get yourself together"

Arrington says seeing the same people in and out of his court room all the time does take it's toll.

See, I would call this above and beyond the magistrate's duty. This is what the legal system needs, someone willing to stand up for the repeat offenders, not just sentence them. It may make no difference, but at least someone tried.

What would they say if it was a white judge who kicked out all the black lawyers?

...in response to this comment by Rob. Why are people so quick to respond with this type of comment? The "what if it were white people instead" type comment. How about for once we don't make it about us?

To be honest I agree with Jake. I think its great that someone went above and beyond even if the young offenders probably rolled their eyes and mentally tuned out every word.
