Japanese astronomers potentially doom Earth for 2015
Mikey 6 commentsIn 1983 Japanese astronomers Hisashi Hirabayashi and Masaki Morimoto got wasted and sent an electronic picture message into space from the Nishi-Harima Astronomical Observatory towards the Altair solar system.
According to the now sober astronomers, if all goes well, we could receive a response as early as 2015. Has the message of a couple of drunken astronomers doomed our planet for an alien invasion? You be the judge:
It's all fairly innocent but probably too cryptic for any alien recipients to decipher. An uneducated guess might be "We are a nudist civilisation who eat fish". Hopefully it doesn't translate into "We are open to the idea of invasion".
Your guess is as good as mine :-)

It clearly says "Barbecue at Yoshi's place this Saturday, bring your family. Main meal will be fish."
Needless to say I think the aliens may be a little late for the party.

Friday 16th May 2008 | 01:24 AMWe run around naked and our fish come to the shore instead of actually having to catch them. See how easy life is here. Come join us in naked frivolity and we will have the fish come out of the water and walk right into your ship in exchange for clothes.

Wednesday 17th November 2010 | 12:11 AMSadly, Morimoto-san passed away yesterday at the age of 78. He was the father of Japanese radio astronomy and an excellent tenor.
whoa, what sort of flux were they working on? Too much soldering.
Sound like fun guys though and we have walking mulloway as well.
