Teen facing prosecution for calling Scientology a 'cult'

Teen facing prosecution for calling Scientology a 'cult'

London: Within 5 minutes of taking part in a peaceful demonstration, a 15 year old boy was arrested for holding a sign that said "Scientology is not a religion, it is a dangerous cult".

Police had banned the use of the word "cult" when referring to the CoS because it was "abusive and insulting".

You know what's abusive and insulting? Violating a teenagers free speech rights to protect the feelings of a corrupt religious organisation cult. And what business do the police have in deciding what is and isn't allowed to be written on a demonstration sign?

I'm disgusted that police in any country would take side with a organisation cult like the CoS. One more statement for the record: The Church of Scientology is a dangerous cult.

How much bloody publicity do these people get?

I think I'm going to join their ranks. With that in mind, I find this article offensive and demand you remove it.

Or don't, thats cool too.

In my opinion, Scientology is nothing but a dangerous cult and all of it's followers are brainwashed drones who need to take their lives back. Scientology is nothing but a dangerous cult and all of it's followers are brainwashed drones who need to take their lives back. Scientology is nothing but a dangerous cult and all of it's followers are brainwashed drones who need to take their lives back. Scientology is nothing but a dangerous cult and all of it's followers are brainwashed drones who need to take their lives back.

I feel better now.

There was absolutely no reason to arrest the kid unless the cops took a pay off from the CoS. I would believe that the CoS would bribe cops and public officials to get their way. I am not saying they did it, just that I would believe it if such a rumor came out.

...in response to this comment by The Movie Whore. Christianity is the same though Jim. How is the indoctrination of people into christianity any different?

You can not prove that jesus existed, but I can proove that hubbard existed, I've read a few of his books...

Everything that you've said about scientology here can be said for any religion... so there!

...in response to this comment by Jake. It can be said about any organization even those run by atheists.

I don't actually belong to an organization. I am against organizations as a rule. Because all of is so much dumber than one or a few of us. The more people you bring in the lower the average IQ of the group and the easier it is to control their behavior.

Just to clear it up. I don't care what their religious beliefs are. What does get my blood boiling is the amount of money they take from people in order for people to reach the next level. Scientology is nothing more than a pyramid scheme with a story to sell. Any religion that asks you to pay for knowledge in cash credit or check up front is borderline criminal. Because they call it a religion they can run the pyramid scheme in with out legal interference as pyramid schemes or multi-level marketing has been made illegal in several states. If you strip religion out of it and look at it as a business model.

Really anyone that does puts all their eggs in one basket runs the risk of sounding like a drone.

I have said it before and I will said it again. I believe in a mix of faith and science and never one exclusively.

So basically you could say that atheists are brainwashed too. So there.

...in response to this comment by The Movie Whore. Atheists aren't organised, we don't have a set of beliefs or doctrines etc. Actually the only thing we realy have in common is what we don't hold stock in, and even then it is an individual thing and not concencus.

Every organisation needs funding in order to run... to get the word out...

It is awful that this boys right to free speech was violated- especially over a word that others had used in protests before.

While I'm not a fan of scientology, I can't help thinking that the very fact so many people get so outraged over it and keep it in the media is working for them. How about we just ignore them? If people are stupid enough to join and give them all thier money then thats their own choice. There are so many other things going on in the world that deserve more outrage.

Like this violation of free speech being overwhelmed with by the cult itself.

...in response to this comment by Jake. You realize I am yanking your chain right?

But seriously Atheists do have a set of beliefs. To believe that God or some form of a god/gods does not exist is a belief. You can't disprove Gods existence any more than I can prove it. There are always going to be questions that we can't answer and some of us use blind faith, some use nothing but science and reason, and some mix it up a bit in order to make peace with the not knowing.

I am just as wrong to bash on Scientology as much as any one that bashes on any organization making claims that their followers are nothing more than brainwashed sheep.

...in response to this comment by Jake. You really mean, one cannot prove to YOU that Jesus existed. But that doesn't mean He didn't exist. There are a lot of things that people can see w/ their physical eyes and there are plenty of things that they cannot see with their physical eyes, but that doesn't mean the things they cannot see don't exist. There was a time when it was believed the world was flat the sun revolved around it. Now, centuries, millennia later, and what do you know! The world is round! Imagine that. But try proving that to the "wise" of that age gone by (the wayside).

Galileo was one man who had the intellect to see what could not be proven and so everyone who was anyone laughed at him. But as the saying goes: "He who laughs last laughs loudest." Only, I can't imagine Galileo having laughing at those who did not have his intellect, and simply because Galileo (what I've read of him, though I've never STOOD FACE TO FACE WITH THE MAN) strikes me as too intelligent to do something so completely childish.

Take a deep breath, Jake. Everything's going to be okay and no one's going to laughing at you.

...in response to this comment by Gina Squitieri. You had to go there, didn't you Gina. How are you today?

The point was that there is nothing to suggest that jesus existed in the capacity that the various bibles assert, so to believe vehemently that a dude was anything more than just a dude, requires brainwashing.

It`s a story about a child having HIS right to freedom of speech being taken away by police for no REAL reason - am I wrong?

I cannot believe that. It sounds too unbelievable to be true. But then maybe the cop who arrested him is himself a scientologist and got his wittle feewings hut?

Or maybe Gina, the cop was trying to prevent a sensitive situation from erupting, which usually happens when religions (or cults) are involved.

My misunderstanding. I'm sorry.
