There is a great article over at BusinessPundit.com about the top 25 Internet Startups that failed. Not surprisingly the first one is GovWorks, and if you haven't seen the documentary Startup.com then I suggest you search for it. It's an amazing documentary about the rise and fall of GovWorks filmed during the entire process.

Another that stuck out for me was number 3, Beenz, a company that was doing virtual online currency (called Beenz) that could be used to buy real stuff. That takes me back to the early dot com boom days, when we were actually approached to design the Beenz web site, which was all well and good except for one small problem - they wanted to pay us with Beenz. Naturally we passed on the idea.
