Laiste has just informed me that our little blog has been nominated as a finalist in the 2008 Weblog Awards, under the category of Best Australia or New Zealand Blog. Wonders never cease.

Of course we know this. When a site with 10 daily visits suddenly receives 11 it does not go unnoticed.
Will there be an AWARDS SHOW that we can tape The Movie Whore's eyelids open and force him to watch?
Best of luck and consideration for this piece of cyberspace being a ground-up CMS that both looks great and performs better weigh in to the decision making and the thought process behind the voting.

...in response to this comment by Rodney. Nothing so sophisticated as Wordpress - I'm still using the Blogger system I started with 6 years ago. I only updated from the Olde Originale Templayte at the Australian National Library's request so they could archive my blog as an "online article of cultural interest and national significance'.
Which says something about the bar being set pretty low...

I wish I knew the judging criteria but my guess is content will make up a large portion of the vote followed by usability, design etc. At least I think content should be the main component. I think we perform admirably in that regard but obviously I can't be the judge of that :-)
