Google sets sights on world domination

Google sets sights on world domination

Just how far do Google want to go? It's a legitimate question and one that deserves an answer, since Google founder Larry Page let the cat out of the bag at last weeks annual American Association for the Advancement of Science conference.

"We have some people at Google (who) are really trying to build artificial intelligence and to do it on a large scale. It's not as far off as people think."

Having access to the largest and powerful CPU clusters does give credibility to Page's statement. But before we start conjuring up images of Skynet or chanting "All your base are belong to Google", remember Google's '' mantra.

Jokes aside, this is one heck of an interesting revelation. I can't begin to imagine what Google has planned. What ever it is, you can bet it will be in beta for 5 years.

I reckon the AI tech will be used for their search technology. I predict Google as we know it will change dramatically in a few years.

Google is definitely set for change, it has remained fairly standard for too long now, I'm just waiting for them to pull a rabbit (or 10) out of the hat... We'll see

You gotta hand to those guys. Nothing can stop them. Makes you wonder if AI was part of the master plan all along and were waiting for the right time, or if it's just another thing they can afford to waste resources on because lets face it - money is no barrier when it comes to Google.

http://www.robinsloan.com/epic/">EPIC 2014 when released was a great piece of fiction attempt to predict what the future holds. My fav. was Googlezon.

It is funny/scary how close reality mimics fiction.

I heard a story recently of Larry and his Australian nanny - taking her to Paris to say thankyou for her work.

Nothing evil there.
