Star Trek XI warping ahead

Star Trek XI warping ahead

Call me a geek, but I have not been this excited about a Star Trek film in a very long time. Star Trek XI will be based on the original characters Kirk, Spock and McCoy.

My excitement is with slight reservation however, as I am not sold on the idea of recasting the iconic characters. That said, it would be impossible to use the original cast three cast members.

So who will be wearing the StarFleet uniforms? Paramount Pictures are allegedly in discussions with Matt Damon, Adrien Brody and Gary Sinise to play Kirk, Spock and McCoy respectively.

The more I think about it, the more I can see these three fine actors giving credit to these roles.

Damon is the same age that William Shatner was when he played the original role of Captain Kirk. Brody's tall thin physique coupled with angular facial features make him a great candidate to play the Vulcan Scientist, Spock, and Sinise's physical appearance closely resembles that of Dr McCoy.

The time period will be set prior to the original series, although a final script has not been confirmed as of yet. JJ Abrams (Lost, Alias) is already locked in to direct, so as long as the script is good I think we will have a fine Trek movie to look forward to.
