Wikileaks publishes half million pager messages sent during 9/11 attacks

Wikileaks has obtained and released over half a million text pager messages cover a 24 hour period surrounding the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York and Washington.

Reading though some of the messages it's hard to imagine what it must have been like: "you left a message for me. Call when you have a chance. Love, Sherri".

Was that the last time the recipient ever heard from Sherri? Or was he/she one of the lucky ones that survived? Likewise with "Its your mom returning youre call and i'm home now if you want to get intouch with me."

And of course the obligatory spam: "$499 deals on iPAQ Pocket PC Hijacked Planes Destroy Twin Towers, Burn Pentagon Reuters".

I think this would be pretty harrowing reading. I'll give it a miss.

...in response to this comment by Rodney. I'd have to agree. Of the 500,000, 400,000 will be mispelled or unreadable to begin with. Maybe a couple hundred would be worth reading.
