We've seen many popular torrent hosts throw in the towel over the years, Torrentspy a few years ago and more recently the Pirate Bay (although the latter had their hand forced).

News just in from TorrentFreak is that Mininova has decided to not risk all that legal hassle, and consequently the have removed all infringing torrents from their servers. From now on they are only accepting uploads from approved account holders, which may signify the impending death of the once beloved site. A small bar at the top of the site now reads "From now on, only Content Distribution torrents are allowed".

Just checking for myself now in the hope that this was some sort of practical joke, it turns out this isn't the case. A quick search for movies shows there to be practically bugger-all.

Well we can't say we're surprised, but there are still many good torrent services out there.
