Windows 7 has a 'God Mode'
Mikey 28 commentsAmazingly this works, and it's extremely easy to enable. Once enabled you'll have nearly 300 settings to play with all located in one convenient location, very much a second control panel.
Here's how. Just go to your C drive and create a new folder with this name:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
It will even create it's own special icon. This is said to also work on 32bit editions on Vista.
Update: Apparently there are several more God Modes.
Just create a new folder with any name . one of the strings below. Example: Rustylime.{00C6D95F-329C-409a-81D7-C46C66EA7F33}
{00C6D95F-329C-409a-81D7-C46C66EA7F33}

Very useful if you just got the computer. Otherwise, a bit of fun.
Windows 7 any good? I've been meaning to check it out but never get around to it.
...in response to this comment by Trent Greguhn. It's the best Windows yet. Extremely fast even on older hardware. Makes Vista look worse than it already does.
...in response to this comment by Trent Greguhn. Yes, it really is. Definitely the best Windows desktop made.
Finally! I needed a God Mode for Windows 7 because I was sick of getting fragged while trying to level up! Now I just need a no clipping mode so I can walk through walls.
Hey Mike...Is there anything like this for XP? I'm one of those people who still makes sure that whatever new computer I buy is loaded with XP. If 3.1 was internet capable, I'd still be using that. I love the sound of God Mode, but having to go to Win7 to use it is a bit daunting for me. I bought a new Laptop about a month ago, and went out of my way to be sure that it had XP for an OS. I don't know much about #7 at this point, though your article and some of it's comments make me want to check it out. Vista about ruined me on new OS from MS, but perhaps I should consider #7.

...in response to this comment by Friendo. There is always Power Tools for XP but there isn't much in thgere. Aside from that I'm not sure - I haven't used XP in about 4 years :-)
...in response to this comment by Rodney. God hates frags!
Haha, comedy gold!

But Mikey, Please excuse my ignorance, but I have no idea what any of that means. Can you explain it in human terms?
...in response to this comment by Gina Squitieri. The codes you mean? They're probably development testing remnants from Microsoft that somebody forgot to remove.
If you're running Vista or Windows 7, just make a new folder in C drive called...
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
...and viola! You'll have a whole new selection of tools to play with. Likewise for the other codes, just make a folder with any name, a dot, and one of the codes. Like...
Gina.{17cd9488-1228-4b2f-88ce-4298e93e0966}
...and you'll have even more new tools.
I may have to upgrade to 7 so that I can play God.
If I then delete the folder, can i be charged with killing god?
...in response to this comment by Marvin the Martian. Not believing in the folder is the greater sin.
But unlike god - i can SEE the folder.
I'm not sure about this. I think deicide is too much of a risk.
...in response to this comment by Marvin the Martian. True. There is more evidence to support the existence of the folder than there is of God.
This conversation took the best possible path towards being a dialogue I'd read out of a Robert M. Pirsig novel. I applaud all of you.
No applause... just money.
...in response to this comment by Marvin the Martian. Sorry, all money goes into the donation folder.
...in response to this comment by Trent Greguhn. I deleted that folder in favour of c:/embezling money for my holiday bitches/
...in response to this comment by Jake Farr-Wharton. That would actually be c:\embezling money for my holiday bitches\
:-)
...in response to this comment by Mikey. You totally pwned me!

...in response to this comment by gina Squitieri. Try it and see :-)
whatif you do not believe in god?
I just got the upgrade for Windows 7 except I can't "upgrade" over Vista Ultimate. Gotta start backing up my crap so I can do a clean install...

You can upgrade from Vista to Windows 7: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-do-vista-to-windows-7-upgrade/

That was my best nerd joke, ever. How sad.
