What is the world coming too when a blogger receives death threats for exercising her freedom of speech rights? Kathy Sierra was been the unwilling recipient of some pretty awful comments on her blog, including deaths threats and suggested acts of sexual barbarisms.

Kathy and the police are taking the threats seriously, and as a results she has cancelled her trip to San Diego where she was to deliver a workshop at the ETech conference.

It would be easy to assume the comments were made by a juvenile idiot, or in the case of the sexual offense comments, usually always by some jerk with a tiny appendage.

We have had trolls on this site which are easily spotted and their comments promptly removed, but nothing as serious as this.

Kudos to Kathy for coming forward with this story.
