Deadliest Catch Captain Phil Harris dies

Fans of the totally awesome deadly insanity that is 'The Deadliest Catch' might be saddened to learn as I was that Captain Phil Harris has died.

Phil suffered a stroke 2 weeks ago and was placed in a medically induced coma. After waking he was starting to improve but gave up yesterday in hospital.

Those who followed the show will remember he was in hospital a couple of years ago for a different but he eventually pulled through and was given the all-clear to return to sea.

Capt Phil was an amazing, honest tell-it-like-it-is person, that along with his two sons Jake and Josh brought some amazing stories, drama and dry wit to the show.

If you've not seen the Deadliest Catch, grab a copy from your local DVD library. You'll be hooked.

He smoked like a chimney, it's no great surprise. Still unfortunate though.
