Google buys DoubleClick Media

Everyone's favourite search engine company has purchased DoubleClick Media for a record 3.1 billion US dollars, a figure which makes the recent Youtube acquisition of 1.65 billion pale in comparison.

Trip Chowdhry, from Global Equities Research said:

"Microsoft gave Google a wake-up call by showing interest in DoubleClick. If Google did not buy DoubleClick, it could have lost out on millions in ad revenue a year to Microsoft."

At last count, Google has more than 11 billion dollars cash to play with.
