minimel and her mini man

back online after a short stint away.. i've had my baby.. a little boy born may 5.

was a bit of a drama the day that the little man came into the world. after they tried unsuccessfully to do a spinal block for a c-ser, which incidently hurt like hell.. they arent the nicest procedures (my dodgy pelvis wouldnt allow a natural birth). poor hubby was having a freak out when he saw me on the table shaking away due to the aneasthesia used for the spinal block. they use an ice pack to see the level of coverage to check if the block is working. then they tried to top me up.. started to prep me.. put the curtain up and cut.. which i felt (not fun, just quietly) they opted to do a g.a.. so not only did i miss out on the birth.. so did hubby. which is pretty sad

but he did wait until i woke up to find out what sex our bub was. it was something we decided to do just in case i had to be knocked out. i kept them all waiting a good hour or so, and was still off my chops for the better part of the arvo... (gotta love a general)

it is the most surreal thing, having a child. not only the pregnancy, but having this child here.. and for me (well a lot of my friends too) knowing it was inside you, and how the hell did it fit? poor bugger, all squished into a little space.

so here he is, at 11.48am came into the world at 2.71 kegs.. and 48 cm long.. he's a little eating machine.. great for him.. not so much for the boozies (he's lke a wild animal when he's latching on.. eep) and growing at a rate of knots.. its been 12 weeks and i cant believe how fast he grows and how much he changes daily.

taj eric wallace... hubby loves taj burrows,, and thought it was a sign that during my pregnancy he was winning so many surfing comps.. eric, after hubby's grand dad who passed a couple of yrs ago.. and wallace, is on my mum's side.. (she is the 'last' wallace in her family) after william wallace.. one of our rellies

the cats are coping with the new presence.. but he sure knows how to clear a room when he cries. they are taking him in thier fuzzy stride.. and come up to investigate when they see him.

it makes life pretty hard when trying to juggle a business, a baby and yourself.. some days i dont get to eat until late in the arvo, which sucks bum. but am managing to take it in my stride. but it sure does change your world..

so i will be dropping in and out when i can.. take care everyone, and i'll see you on the rusty lime

Awww, I love the picture. I love babies!!! And you don't look like you had a baby at all, you look gorgeous, Mel. I hope you get to stay home with him for a long, long time the way mothers are supposed to be able to!

I just love babies. (Sigh)

Its a pity the delivery wasnt as easy (never are) as you hoped for.

Hang in there! Having a baby is tough (emotionally, I mean). The walking will help.

Yes, congratulations from America...but what's this "arvo"? Googled it, but I don't think I got the right thing???

I have three kids, and was lucky enough to be there for the birth of all of them. The Dr. for the third one wanted to throw me out, but I told her to bugger off. I cried each time.

...in response to this comment by Friendo. Hey friendo, arvo is Aussie slang for afternoon ;)
sleep is getting better (touch wood) he's slept for 6 or so hours through the night. Good for mum's brain, not so much for the boozies ( watch out, they're going to blow)
had that pic taken by a great friend, after a sleepless night. Thank goodness for black & white
