Samsung have unveiled their new 70" HDTV LCD, with a contrast ration of 500,000:1 Yes you read that right; half a million to one. The LN70F91BD has a dynamic backlight which decreases brightness and even turns off in dark areas of the picture making for superior contrast.

According to Samsung, the dynamic backlighting will also see a power saving of around 50% compared to current generation LCD screens.

The screen also eliminates ghosting on fast moving scenes with a technology they call LED Scanning. This makes my 42" screen look rather pathetic in comparison.

It wont be available until the 2nd half of 2007. Expect it to cost around the same as a small family car.
