The new iPhone technology demonstrations on the Apple web site are rather impressive. I am almost loathed to say it but the forthcoming hardware actually seems to have the goods, even if the lack of 3G support is a bit of an annoyance for some.

That said the iPhone has a lot going for it. The accelerometer and proximity sensors in particular is a nice feature. I will be in the market for something different soon but knowing Apple hardware as I do, there will be a mind boggling premium attached.

And if I want to spend that sort of money I would much rather go for something like this. In any event, if the hype is anything to go by the iPhone will likely be the new benchmark standard for mobile phones, even though technically it is more like a portable entertainment unit with phone capability
