Bush says Iraq had nothing to do with the WTC attacks
Mikey 8 commentsDuring a crowded press conference, the US President was asked what Iraq had to do with the attack on the World Trade Centre. GW's response: "Nothing!"
But he does go on to justify what 'nothing' actually means.

Thursday 9th August 2007 | 10:10 AMOn a recent trip to the US I was dumbfounded by how much the people I spoke to hate the man... none of them were enrolled voters though.
How can you have an oppinion so strong in conviction, yet not express it when it is needed?
In a nation where they take such pride in their nation, they (complete generalisation) take little pride in the process of governance... though they are more than happy to complain about it.

Thursday 9th August 2007 | 04:09 PMYea that gets me too Jake. I think the non-voting anti-Republicans are disheartened by the lack of strong Democrat leaders and don't consider the fact that there are more than two parties to vote for. There's more at stake than they realise.

Thursday 9th August 2007 | 06:17 PMBack to our own country though, I'm annoyed that we really only have two parties to choose from this year. Stuff two party preferred, this is two party only (coalition/liberal vs labor).

Saturday 11th August 2007 | 02:52 AMAustralia is in the same situation as the US with a two party preferred system, but in close elections the minor parties (usually Greens) only need a couple of seats to get the balance of power. It's reassurance that a vote for a minor party can actually count for something in parliament... the minor party seat holders actually get a bit of sway.

Wednesday 8th August 2007 | 08:12 PM3,000 US civilians are killed, most of the hijackers coming from Saudi Arabia. So we go to Iraq cos it's also in the Middle East and get a cheap victory by killing Saddam who isn't our friend at the moment.
Civilians killed by military intervention in Iraq:
Currently somewhere between 68747 and 75194.
