DOS attacks target anti-spam sites

Proving once and for all the evil in spammers knows no bounds, several denial of service attacks have been launched against anti-spam web sites.

It is believed the Zhelatin gang is responsible for launching the attacks. Among the targeted sites are 419Eater, ScamWarners, CastleCops, scam.com, scamfraudalert.com, and Artists against 419.

Full story.

About 3 years ago it was impossible to update "spybot search and destroy" for a few days, due to a concerted and prolonged DDOS against their update mirrors. A new variant of spyware out there had been specifically programmed to use your bandwidth against those IPs.

Many spam engines and spyware will also edit the hosts file, making it impossible for average users to update their AV software, etc.

Still, many serious antispam sites, such as those who run the RBLs like spamhaus, etc, must have enormous bandwidth capacities just to offer their regular service. Which they do for free. Simply incredible effort and dedication, from those guys.

I suggest we gather people to preform DOS attacks on spam sites to let them know that we will not tolerate their malicious behavior.
