Dante Wyndham Arthurs pleads guilty: Why bother with rehab?

On Monday the 19th September 2007 Dante Wyndham Arthurs pleaded guilty to the charges of unlawfully detainment and subsequent murder of Sofia Rodriguez-Urrutia-Shu at the Canningvale Shopping Centre in Perth, Western Australia last year.

The charge of willful murder has been dropped as prosecutors can not prove Arthurs intended to murder the young girl.

Incidentally, in 2003 Arthurs was caught indecently dealing with another eight-year-old girl in Canningvale, but the charges were dropped because of the way police handled the interview. Said Arthurs' mother:

"I think it was in him, I don't think you can change someone like that. I mean who does that? I can't fathom it"

Time for a reality check. People like Dante Wyndham Arthurs don't have a chance at being rehabilitated or even deserve the opportunity for that matter, and judging by his mothers' comments that may be true. Best case scenario for Arthurs, he does his time (assuming he survives), gets released, and spends the rest of his life a loser on welfare because no-one in their right mind will give him a job. Then he moves from suburb to suburb to suburb because as soon as parents find out there is a convicted child murderer living nearby they put pressure on the authorities to force him to move. Of course they can't force him to move because 'he has done his time' and so police are pressured to routinely check in on him and patrol the neighborhoods to give the appearance they care.

So why should taxpayers spend another $100,000+ per year for the 15 years he could serve plus benefits when he is released? I don't want people like Arthurs living near me and my family or any of my friends, so here is a better idea.

Just do away with him, I am not fussed which way, just as long as he stops breathing; and split the $1.5 Million between Sofia's and his previous victims family.

I won't lose any sleep. In fact I think we would all sleep better.

What about his rights? I am not supporting what he did but as a human being he still has the right to serve his sentence and merge back into the community. Isnt that why we have the prison system in the first place instead of just executing everyone?

Jonah: What about Sofia's rights? When Authers violated and murdered her life he forfeited his own rights and became sub-human as far as I am concerned.

So what of his rights? He ended her life and have bought a life-time of suffering to her family. He deserves nothing less than the same at the very least. But I as I mentioned in this editorial, why waste the time and money on him? End the f*cker, I say.

Previous charges for a similar incident had been dropped.
I think that is a bigger issue than weather or not the death sentence is called for.

That's a fair call. If the police were doing their job properly (by not botching the interview) then this tragedy could have been avoided. But it has happened now and maybe they won't be so sloppy next time. Until then I stand by my punishment recommendation.

Any prison time is pretty much a death sentence for child killers and paedophiles anyway.

The system will 'take care of things' so to speak. I think that's where the phrase 'honour among thieves' comes from.

"Arthurs had admitted sexually interfering with Sofia, but the sexual penetration charge was dropped because the forensic evidence could not rule out she was raped after her death, the court was told.

Under West Australian law, sexual assault charges can only be laid if the victim was alive during the attack so it can be asserted no consent was given."

Why should this murderer be accorded any more rights than he has shown to others? The child victim was 10 years old, with a life expentancy of 80 years? So this poor girl has been deprived of c.70 years while this maggot can still watch 'Neighbours' every night until the political cycle forgets, and he is paroled?

Execute him cleanly and clearly, as soon as possible. Otherwise we are fashioning our own noose for those who seek to destroy our society..

Alright I'll bite. What if he was mentally diseased? Not in control of his own actions. Does the death penalty still apply? If that's the case then this was just a tragedy we all have to deal with and move on.

While I agree with the old adage, an eye for an eye, I don't think that bringing in a death penalty is an answer.

It is easy to justyfy the financial incentive for ending a criminal's life, however there is a lot more involved in the process.

This guy murdered and raped a little girl. The scenario is just sickening, if I were the father I would want to be the one to administer retrobution, but afterwards, I would want the bastard to live his life in a supermax prison.

Let him be somebody elses bitch.

A couple of home truths. Dante will be in protective cusutody for the duration of his sentence. No one will get near him and the days of crims getting at kiddy fiddlers and the like are over. The outcome for offenders now who take the law into thier own hands will ensure that they are punished for being human or trying to make a name for themselves and the reality of the days of the staunch crim now is over with the majority of criminals now being in for drug related offences. Time will diminish the pain and disgust we all feel and one day he will wonder around a prison accomadation Unit just like Birney did without to many dramas. The long and the short of it is if you want Capital Punishment to be brought back in you and I mean you need to write ring and harrass your local member. The ability to impose the Death Sentence is still carried on our state law statutes and only needs a Goverment with enough balls to enofrce it .It wont change unless you make it change. As for who will pull the lever I will and eat my lunch while I do it and I am sure there others like me. Dante,Birnie and a veritable multitude of others are nothing but pandered diseased scum who laugh at our soft hearted approach and the world would briefly be a nicer place without them.

An eye for an eye will only lead to the world going blind.

We need to focus on stopping the next Authurs before he strikes.

Society needs to be stong and stand firmly against capital punishment.

I say.. dont kill him. Why end his life in a second if you can put him in jail and watch him rot away for years. Im only young (13) and I cant even imagin dieing now.. I feel so horrible for Sofia and her family.. as that bastard has inflicted a long time hurt.
He should get murdered in jail for killing a young girl anyways.. and i only hope that the person that kills him makes it slow.

Hang the clown. He already thinks he's tough just by judging the picture of himself that is showcased. The prison isn't going to rot away his life, a low-life like himself is going to rot the prison up just with his presence. I'd be happy to oblige with the execution had the situation been arisen.

I fully the support the death penalty for sickos like that where there is no doubt of their guilt. If there is doubt, give them life, and I mean LIFE, not 25 years, and put them in with the rest of the crims who don't take kindly to people that hurt children. Our jails are a holiday camp at the moment, and unfortunately they do separate the 'rock spiders' and child killers from the general population. I would love to see him become someone's bitch, but it ain't going to happen, so we should just be rid of him. It's not like we need to keep everyone alive for population's sake, and anyway, innocent people die everyday, who gives a shit if a few of the guilty die too. Not me. Let's do it. Let's advocate for the return of the death penalty. If enough people band together we can make our view known. The government needs reminding that they work for us! Justice for James, Sofia and every child that is abused, tortured and murdered. May their deaths not be in vain.

At the end of the day, all your comments show an urge to "kill the bastard"!,,,but many criminals who have deviated the law of society this way decide to pull the trigger them selves. IT'S AN EASY WAY OUT ! gone! no more worries! kaput! good bye! DEAD!!! The law needs to teach these deviants a lesson they will never forget. Criminals like this always lead a cushy life in prison with today's clever lawyers. There are many roads, buildings construction areas and the like in the world which do not have the goverment financial fundings to be completed. This is obviously due to the lack of money, the lack of agreement and yes,,, THE LACK OF WORKERS!!! Putting it bluntly, make the bastards work!!!! Pay them merely to live on and let them work their bollocks off to repay the society for what they have done. I'm sure this will repay "us" more so rather than the tax payer "PAYING THEM"!!!

Hi Really interested in this chap Dante Arthur, What has come to be very apparent is that there is only one photo about of him.. Unless i havent searched enough.. I to can see the link with the James Bulger case over in Liverpool Great Britian. I have studied the photo of the one whom i suspect every one is thinking that he could be 'Robert Thompson'. The photo obviously an old one of Robert when 10yrs and convicted for the horrendous torture and killing, that he bestowed upon a defenceless 2 year old. Well it is too hard to think about.. So really what i am asking if anyone has any other photo's recent or old of this chap please post them on here so we can all see.. Also another thing that has cropped up, is the fact that no schools etc have gotten intouch to say he went there and he was a (((()))))) type student.. Strange is it me or is this like one big cover up.. and has the public got it in one...

...in response to this comment by Mikey. I totally agree with you Mikey. Unfortunately the law here is an ass and judges are worth shite! They're simply not standing by us normal law abiding citizens. One thing's for sure, he may have escaped lightly now but according to GOD! the DEEPEST! and DARKEST! is reserved for him when he meets his maker. Hopefully before the time comes, he'll get what Jeffery Dahma got when he was in prison (Beaten to a pulp!) be a fellow inmate. I know God teaches people to love each other, but I just can't help hating this man.

Death, forget the lever, i'd have no qualms strangling this fuck with my own two hands. my 4 year old daughter was raped and killed a year ago here in america. i dont give two shits about his rights the way he wouldn't give two about mine. forget the lever, forget the trigger, just put me in a room with him alone for one minute, just one. i could do everything i wanted to do inside one minute to this piece. capitol punishment should be the only type of punishment for any criminal that commits, their crime with an intent to end human life.

what facts do you have about dante wyndham arthurs? where did he grow up? what school did he go to? did have any friends? anyone know any truths about him and storys? fact being there is a conspiracy that he is robert thomson the killer of james bulger from the Britan. from what i read there is very very little known about htis person only 2 photos in the entire world circulationg of him.seems very odd to me. the fact that the police messd up the case beofre should send alarm bells that something is not quite right here. this person kidknapped a child form a shoppping mall the same as the two boys robert thompson and terry venebales did in britan.wasnt dante wydham arthurs in custody in britan for attacking a child? and was released due to lack of evidence. soemthing is not adding up and i would appreciate any info about dante arthurs. i am not interested in people saying the police etc say it is not him as cover ups can be made.all i want is facts who dante wyndahm arthur is. thanks

No total kudos

Boris,
The creep called datne Arthurs was born in Perth and went to North Lake Primary school He lived in England for a few years with his parents in Surrey. He was arrested by British police for attacking a young girl in 2001. The ID parade kept getting stalled and he and his parents left England and came back to WA(rather convenient....). The British poilce neglected to inform Interpol he was under suspicion. He attended North Lake Senior Campus - there are records of people knowing him. I have seen a photo of him at a school ball. In 2003 he attempted to abduct a young girl in a park near his house. He was then about 19. He was made to wear electronic tracking devices for months. The DPP decided to drop the charges due to lack of evidence. The police had neglected to send his shorts for forensic testing - it was later revealed they contained traces of the girls blood. In 2006 the piece of filth them committed his brutal act upon Sofia. He left his fingerprints on the wash basin - the police were able to match these prints with the prints they had taken back in 2003. Thats why they were able to arrest him so quickly. This whole tragic story may have been avoidable if the poilce had done their job properly and if the DPP had pressed charges. Hopefully their processes have been improved so another little girls life will not taken by some sick demented human being who seemed hellbent on committing such a crime. And what about his parents? What were they doing about their depraved offspring? Not much it seems. Perhaps they should be taking some blame for not getting their sick son some help - for goodness sake not once but twice he was under suspicion for attempting to abduct young girls. Most parents would be very concerned. I accept Dante Arthurs is probably deeply mentally disturbed but what he did to Sofia is unforgiveable.
In 2005 The West Australian interviewed Arthurs and his mother to ask if he was one of the Bulger Murderers - this is where the rumors started. Arthurs is Arthurs, NOT Thompson or Veneables (this is proven as he has been in Jail in the UK for possessing child porn). Unfortuneately there are lots of sickos out there - we just need to catch the scum before they can do too much damage. Hope this answers some of your questions.
