Convicted Hacker: 'It's so easy a caveman could do it'

Information Week has a good interview with 23 year old convicted hacker Robert Moore, who is on his way federal prison this week. Moore will serve 2 years for conspiracy to commit computer fraud. Said Moore:

"It's so easy. It's so easy a caveman can do it...When you've got that many computers at your fingertips, you'd be surprised how many are insecure.

If Moore is as talented as he makes himself out to be then he just might have a big career ahead of him when he gets out. It's not uncommon for convicted high profile hackers to be contracted as security professionals for large organisations. Kevin Mitnick, who served 10 years for computer hacking crimes (on which a movie was made about), is living proof of this.

Moore also has a , which is currently maintained by his sister. The latest entry reads 'About me: Robert busted by Feds for Hacking.'

Haha. Yea it may be easy, like stabbing someone, but it's still illegal, like stabbing someone.

Just because it's insecure doesn't mean you're allowed to hack it. If I'm not wearing a kevlar vest, it's still illegal to shoot me in the chest.

Keep your enemies closer. If your org gets hacked and you find out who it is, you should be giving the guy the job of securing everything.
