Eric Bana scores Star Trek 11 villain role

Eric Bana huh? I can't say I have seen any of his movies but I have it on good authority he is a good actor. My only memories of him are from the Full Frontal comedy series from yesteryear.

Anyway, it turns out Bana has been confirmed to appear in the upcoming new Star Trek feature film, playing the part of a villain called Nero. There is no other information on the character other than his name at this stage, and as a devout fan of the original series (the new movie will be set slightly prior to this time period) I can confirm there were no characters called Nero, so I can only speculate it has been inspired by the same Nero from Roman history. I was a little rusty so I had to look it up.

On the subject of all things Trek, there is a strong rumour that is director JJ Abrams' preferred choice to play the role of Captain Kirk. Consider that one unconfirmed at this stage.

Nearly all the iconic roles have been filled. The other roles filled are by Anton Yelchin (Checkov), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura) and Leonard Nimoy to reprise his role as Spock, but naturally a much older Spock, and in my humble opinion the best Vulcan of all the series. Though having seen plenty of Zachary Quinto on Heroes (he plays Sylar) I am convinced he could do an admirable Spock.

Your 'good authority' gave you a bum steer. Bana couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag.

He's an ok actor, the most recent one about the olympic assasination was very good, as was romulus my father.

He really is a good actor and has just taken his time to come into form.
