Samsung has 82 inch monster

Hands up if you want one of these. Samsungs new 82 inch Quad HDTV is four times the resolution of today's 1080p high definition TVs, and makes this 70 inch model look tiny.

This screen runs natively at 3820x2160 which is 8.3 megapixels and just to give you an idea of what that means, today's regular hi-def is a 'measly' 1920x1080 at 2.1 megapixels.

At that resolution even Blue-ray isn't adequate enough to deliver an optimal picture. The price? Samsung wont say but they did sell a 52 inch model to Westinghouse for an estimated $40,000.

Get 2 at that price.

Even my video card which is considered among the top end of the spectrum (GeForce 8800GTX) can only output 2560 x 1600, which makes playing games at native resolution on that screen out the question. But I wouldn't complain.

So you spend a years income on the tv, then pay half your yearly income every quarter to pay for the electricity the beast uses.

Jumped on the 42" when it dropped in price, then a 55". I'm wondering when this one will drop into the single $ks but then I'm thinking the 200" will be available!
